ICON-LEM simulations over the Tropical Atlantic

Besides the HD(CP)² simulations over Germany, the second phase of the project also aims to reveal advance the understanding of cloud formation and precipitation processes over subtropical marine regions that are in the heart of climate uncertainty. Moreover, they reveal the details of shallow cumulus clouds in this region.
First simulations towards this goal have now been undertaken and are available on four domains with a horizontal of 1250m, 600m, 300m and 150m (with 150 vertical levels up to 21km). Corresponding quicklooks can be found here: https://goo.gl/y2A9CS.
